Full-Time Youth Minister

Andover Christian Church (ACC) is searching for a full-time paid Youth Minister to oversee the Children's and Youth ministries. Please check out the "About" page to learn more about our church, beliefs, and values.

Our Children's ministry features Awana, Vacation Bible School, children's church, and Summer Departure. Our Youth ministry has a weekly teen youth group, 5th Quarters after home high school football games, and quarterly outreach events. Both children's and youth ministries are heavily involved in Blue Rock Christian Camp and have weekly Sunday school classes.

I. Qualifications
A. Spiritual
1. An immersed believer in Christ.
2. Has a deep, personal relationship with the Lord that includes personal prayer, meditation, and Bible study.
3. Has a heart for working with students.
4. Holds to the New Testament church position as outlined in the appended Statement of Faith and Affirmations of ACC.
5. Believes the Bible is the infallible Word of God.
6. Displays a concern for the lost.

B. Educational:
1. Approved Bachelor's degree - ministry-related program.
2. Progressive in thinking on approaches to ministry.
3. Desire for continuing education - for self-evaluation and improvement.

C. Experience:
1. Previous volunteer, or paid, ministry experience in youth-related areas.
2. References from the above-related areas that evidence leadership potential.

D. Family Life:
1. Expends the time and energy necessary to build and maintain a strong family and home. This includes relationships with wife and children if applicable.
2. Maintains Godly friendships as a means of encouragement and ministry.

II. Responsibilities
A. Work under and within the guidance of the Elders as a fellow servant-brother in the church.
B. Work in cooperation with other church staff and leadership to foster a ministerial team.
C. Oversee and work with the support of the Youth Ministry Team as well as work with other church ministry teams.
D. Discuss all major expenditures with the church board in appropriating the funds set aside in the youth budget.

III. Duties
A. Disciple and be in contact with youth personally.
B. Recruit, train, and resource adult leaders.
C. Organize and plan the weekly teen ministry (e.g., youth group).
D. Organize and plan the graded worship message (junior church).
E. Organize and lead Awana children's ministry as its commander.
F. Initiate shepherding and outreach to local youth in the home and in the school to discover needs and to offer spiritual support. 
G. Assist/organize/train/function in the area of Christian education as needed.
H. Help coordinate and implement the VBS program.
I. Build working relationships with church members and prospective members.
J. Attend, when possible, school-related youth functions involving ACC kids (sports, banquets, commencement, etc.)
K. In the absence of the Leader Minister, perform various pastoral functions (preaching, funerals, marriages, etc.)
L. Be actively involved in the ministry of Blue Rock Christian Camo
M. Take up to four overnight youth trips per year with approval.

IV. Support Offered
A. The youth minister will have a mentoring Elder to support him personally and professionally.
B. The youth minister reports directly to the Eldership.
C. Vacation - Two weeks of paid vacation which can include up to two Sundays.
D. Days off - One weekday per week, not to exceed 52 per year.
E. Our church has a strong working relationship with Pymatuning Valley local schools.
F. The youth minister is encouraged to read at least one book for personal spiritual enrichment each month.
G. The youth minister is encouraged to attend one or two spiritually enriching conventions/seminars per year.
H. A vehicle and a cell phone is provided by the church.
I. Reimbursement for medical insurance and care is available (up to a stated limit)
